Emotional abusers create a vortex of chaos that makes it difficult for victims to find time and energy for self-care. But here at BTR.ORG, we know that radical self-care is essential for victims.
What is “Radical Self-Care”?
Many women in the BTR community felt intimidated by self-care, believing that self-care meant expensive, time-consuming activities or lifestyle changes.
Radical self-care for betrayal and emotional abuse victims can mean implementing the most basic but essential practices, including:
- Breathing
- Hydration
- Nutrition
- Rest
- Stretching

Wow! I love meditation as part of healing. Thank you for this post. This was a great reminder for some much needed meditation.
I definitely need to step up my meditation game. Thank you.
I am truly grateful to connect with an organization like BTR, one that legitimately (in actions, not just in words) supports ALL women in ALL their various stages of relationships. My heart opened up a huge amount of space for this group when I first read about the various women who make up BTR’S Board of Directors. In, doing so, I recognized that this isn’t an organization that’s going to elevate my husband’s recovery, or the "rescue" of our marriage, above what’s best for me and my own soul. That’s something very rare to find in this world of resources for women impacted by sex addiction and infidelity!!!
Thank you for a beautiful meditation!
