    The fear of starting over can be a major hurdle in a woman’s journey to emotional safety.

    Common Fears & Concerns

    Regardless of age, most women feel intense fear and concern about addressing their husband’s emotional abuse. Some fears may include questions like:

    -What if this was my only chance at love and partnership?

    -What if he changes at some point, and I miss out on it?

    -What if I spend the rest of my life alone?

    -Where will I live?

    -What if everyone believes his version of the story?

    -I’ve never worked, how will I get a job?

    -Are there other options besides divorce?

    These fears are completely understandable – please know that if you are experiencing these fears and concerns, you’re not alone.

    A Personal Story of Starting Over

    Emily had been married for 15 years when she started to notice that her husband’s criticism and controlling behavior were taking a toll on her mental health. The emotional abuse had become unbearable, making her feel trapped and unsure of her worth.

    You Feel Like You Don’t Have Any Options

    Emily often felt there was no escape from the cycle of emotional abuse. She wondered, “How will I provide for myself and my children?” The fear of the unknown kept her paralyzed.

    At 45, Emily worried, “What if this was my only chance at love and partnership?” She questioned if it was too late to start over and find happiness on her terms. Emily isn’t the only one. So many women think, “It’s too late for me to start over.”

    The thought of leaving behind 15 years of marriage weighed heavily on her. “Isn’t divorce wrong?” she asked herself repeatedly, haunted by societal and personal beliefs about marriage.

    I Was Afraid to Move, Starting Over Didn’t Seem Possible

    Emily was petrified of the idea of moving out and starting over. “Where will I live?” and “What if everyone believes his version of the story?” were questions that loomed large.

    Starting Over: Remembering Who You REALLY Are

    After months of soul-searching, Emily realized that she had to reclaim her identity and self-worth. She decided to start attending Betrayal Trauma Recovery Group Sessions, where she found the support she needed.

    My Life Just Continues to Grow After Starting Over

    With the help of BTR Group Sessions, Emily started to rebuild her life, finding a new sense of confidence and empowerment. She secured a job and a safe place to live, and her life began to flourish in ways she never thought possible.
